Doug is a Senior Consultant with The Hayes Group International. With over 45 years of experience in global human resources, Doug has a particular focus on aligning HR teams with business goals and coaching HR leaders to become effective business partners. His deep expertise in leadership development and organizational effectiveness has helped numerous leaders and teams drive performance and navigate complex business challenges.
Doug’s career began at Westinghouse Canada, where he advanced to the number two position in Talent Management, Organizational Development, and Compensation. He later moved to Westinghouse Electric in London, responsible for HR operations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. In his subsequent roles at Westinghouse corporate in Pittsburgh, Doug chaired national labor negotiations and led major initiatives, including the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Doug then joined Monsanto as head of HR for its plant biotechnology group, followed by global VP roles in aerospace and software companies. Most recently, he led HR for Toppan Photomasks, a company acquired from DuPont, where he drove significant HR initiatives and organizational change.
Doug’s broad experience spans diverse industries, including power generation, aerospace, biotechnology, software development, and photomask manufacturing. His leadership roles have taken him around the world, providing hands-on experience in the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. He has worked closely with CEOs and business leaders, providing coaching and feedback to enhance leadership capabilities. Doug has also been instrumental in leading change management initiatives, such as plant closures in multiple countries, and has developed programs to improve sales, customer service, and performance management.
Doug holds a wealth of practical knowledge in human resources, mergers and acquisitions, and leadership development, and is a frequent public speaker on these topics.
