Sylvia Good, M.S.

Sylvia Good is a Senior Consultant and Coach who previously worked with Lee Hecht Harrison, a global career transition and training organization, for the past eight (8) years. She is located in Pittsburgh, PA and is dedicated to assisting individuals with their career planning and transitioning, as well as their personal development. At LHH, she conducted workshops at various locations/companies and provided one-on-one consulting to candidates making career transitions and also assisted them with improving their performance. She has also provided consulting to clients in preparing for interviews by conducting and videotaping practice interview sessions and providing constructive feedback to those participants. These practice sessions increased candidates’ self-confidence about the interview process, improved their ability to sell their background and accomplishments, and increased their chance of interview success during actual interviews with potential future employers.

Prior to LHH, Sylvia’s background includes over 25 years of training and development, human resources (HR), and career coaching and consulting experience with various and diverse industries. Her corporate experience includes both professional and management positions within a variety of industries, such as financial services, retirement planning sales and service, nuclear power plant construction, engineering and utilities. This corporate experience includes working in both large corporations such as Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Columbia Energy Services and smaller organizations such as Invesmart, which was acquired by The Standard Insurance Company during her tenure.

She is certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, which assists individuals in understanding different personality styles and behaviors and helps them with successful interactions with others who have different personality types. She has worked with 360 degree feedback instruments and has coached individuals related to identified strengths and areas for improvement based upon the feedback. Sylvia is trained in behavioral interviewing techniques which are currently utilized on a frequent basis by many companies during job interviews. She is a previous member of The World at Work, Total Rewards; the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM); the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the Association for Quality and Participation (AQP).

Her educational background includes an MS degree in Human Resources Management from LaRoche College, Pittsburgh, PA; and a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. She has a philosophy towards continuous and life-long learning and has developed and delivered an extensive number of training programs. Some of these programs include the areas of management practices and coaching techniques for managers, problem solving and decision making, change management, process improvement, effective communications and influencing skills.
