Merwyn's ability to communicate truth with insight and gentleness was transformative. There were many times when, in the midst of intense discussion, he spoke a simple, well-placed word and completely redirected our way of thinking. His ability to see the story within the story and to hear the message within the message is a remarkable gift. In those brief two days, I was challenged, encouraged and inspired. The six month program executed a great foundation to prepare future leaders. I completed this program with a renewed appreciation for self-awareness and the knowledge of essential tools for successful leaders.

The small class size and our individual work groups allowed each of us to share our observations with one another in a very relaxed and collaborative way. As I watched myself on video handle various leadership situations on TV with Mike’s role-play deserving of an Emmy, it was very clear what my strengths and areas for improvement were. I finally saw myself as others do. I still replay my CD from time to time as a reminder. I left the class with an increased self-awareness, fully energized, and anxious to apply what I had learned with the confidence and skills to be a much better leader and coach.

What I noted to my people is that it is not the academic/intellectual understanding that separates the Hayes approach – it is their basic compassion and humanity that they bring to the discussion. One really can manage in a principled environment, even when you have to make tough decisions, and Hayes communicates that in both direct and indirect ways. I believe a lot of people could profit from exposure to and reinforcement of this workshop.

Of all the workshops I’ve been in, this is by far the best. I’ve been in a lot where you can use some of the things, but here we can use everything we have learned.
